Our Team in Ghana
Mike Ofori (Co-founder and Project Co-ordinator)
A born educationalist, Mike is the man with the original vision to provide free schooling to the children of Saltpond. He has many years' teaching experience, and we are thrilled that he is now training and inspiring our other teachers with his passionate and tireless approach.
Mike currently teaches our Primary Four class, as well as overseeing all site development, and liaising with the UK team.
Most importantly, the students absolutely love him.
Emmanuel Ofori (Director of Teaching & Learning)
Emmanuel is Mike’s younger brother and another fantastic teacher. He also has many years' experience in both state and private schools, and teaches our Primary Six class. He is also responsible for delivering all teacher training and appraisal.
When he’s not teaching, Emmanuel can be found playing football with older students, or farming at a local agriculture project (which has already hosted a few school trips!)
Though Emmanuel currently teachers our older students, he is also a Kindergarten expert and VERY good storyteller (he does voices and everything).
Jah Opoku-Fori (GES specialist)
Father of Mike and Emmanuel (the SEP is a family affair!), Jah has over 35 years experience in Ghanaian education. He was a teacher for many years, and before retiring was a Schools Inspector and Advisor for the Ghana Education Service – the government’s agency for standardisation and improvement in schools.
He is an invaluable source of knowledge and a great friend of the project.
